First Night Hartford 2022 press conference

With just three weeks away, First Night Hartford will welcome back the in-person celebration, setting the party mood to start 2022 with positive vibes.

On Friday, Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner partner Jeffrey Devereux announced the return of the holiday celebration at a press conference at 88 Pratt street, saying that a wonderful program has been planned.

"We have many wonderful partners, the Hartford library, the old state House, churches to help make this night happen as well. We're excited to have you here".

Last year, the annual event was closed to in-person attendees due to the Coronavirus pandemic shutdown; however, First Night turned to virtual gatherings as the rest of the world did so.

The event will display two sets of fireworks in Hartford to welcome the new year one at 6 pm and another at midnight in Bushnell Park, where people of all ages can gather to enjoy the celebration.

Erik Hansen- Hartford Wolf Pack

Community partners as the Wolf Pack vice president of business operations Erik Hansen, said that his organization is excited to be part of the traditional annual event.

"We're able to start the game this year at 3 pm, so the game will be wrapping up right before the fireworks start, so hopefully, people will be able to come out to the game."

State Troubadour Nikita Waller

State Troubadour Nikita Waller's voice has been present in many Christmas celebrations throughout the years, brought the energy up during the press conference.

"it's Christmas time in Hartford city. Isn't that right? So make sure you use the same energy to come around two first night 2022. Don't forget to bring your kids; they can do some great thing".

The event, put on by Winterfair and community partners, kicks off on Friday, December 31 at 2 pm featuring 30 performances from diverse cultural backgrounds. People will also enjoy the show through First Nigh live streams on Facebook and HPATV. There will also be food, artisan vendor booths, and other 12 venues across Downtown Hartford.

New Wave artist Chad Browne-Springer

Artist Chad Browne-Springer from East Hartford performed at the event, throwing some new wave beats to the environment.

"I have been performing for so many years. I have been contacted to participate, and I gladly accepted. This is going to be cool."

Organizers said that COVID-19 protocols will continue to take place to safeguard the public's wellbeing.

"Come out, come enjoy the festivities, come be with one another, and support local businesses and artists, and have a great time," said Devereux.
